Holy Moley can't believe it is almost Christmas!!! But I got all my shopping done, finished the last of it today...one more online purchase and totally done. Kathryn wrote her letter to Santa today and we mailed it with some of our playgroup buddies. Here she is with her letter. Growing up so fast sniff sniff.

Then later that afternoon we went to the park with our neighbors and Thalia took her first ride in the jogging stroller without the infant car seat. She seemed to like it :)

I feel like my parents when I say it is crazy how fast time flies but it really is!!! My 5 month old little sweetie pie. I actually get a lot of the things my parents said now ;-)

Catching Up

Alrighty it has been quite a while since my last update and one of my goals for next year, dare I say a resolution, is to keep my blog updated. I eventually would like to catch up and recap the last year but there are just so many pictures to go through...so I want to post and here we are now, try to keep up and then throw in some past stuff as I find it here and there.

Kathryn is doing great in Pre-K and loving her friends and playdates. Here is her school picture.

Thalia is also doing great, she has been sleeping through the night for some time now and has a really sweet and chill personality. I'm am just loving her chunky cheeks. Here is a picture Marian took of us at a Christmas Party.

Vegas McGuire

We had to say goodbye to our beautiful cat Vegas this morning. Vegas was such an awesome cat. She was the first pet I got on my own after leaving the nest. We got her when she was 3 years old from the Carlsbad Animal Shelter and have had the pleasure of living with her for the past 8 years which now seems like it wasn't long enough. I always felt so lucky that she was the cat we picked. She was so sweet and loved to cuddle, and she was my little baby, she loved to follow me around the house. She slept right next to me every night curled up in my arms like a stuffed toy, she was definitely my little purring security blanket. It is so weird being at home and not having her here following me around looking for some love. I miss her terribly already but was always and still am so thankful for what a great cat she was. I love you Vegas!!

Kathryn's dance class had their Halloween dress up class. I actually made this tutu that morning, I had all the stuff and didn't think I had time, but I am so glad I tried because it came out so cute. It was really easy and fun and well let's just say there might be more tutu pics in the future.

Gavin and Lisa are getting hitched! We are all very excited about the upcoming wedding. We got together at Leo Carrillo Ranch to take some engagement and family shots. It was a blast and we got some great pictures of the family. Jacob and Josh did great, and well Gavin and Lisa did alright I guess ;-)

Kathryn's 1st days of school

Kathryn started school this week. The first day was a mini session and short day and Tim and I stayed with her. It was so cute, she wanted to stay and play when it came time to leave. Here are some pictures from her first day.

Kathryn's Birthday at Legoland

For Kathryn's Birthday we went to Legoland for the day. It was such a fun day we were there all day. Here we are waiting in line for the airplane ride, one of my favorites, it is actually really fun!
And on the airplane, notice our matching t-shirts that Tim got us from Woot. He is a wootaholic ;-) but I love getting our matching T's!!
And gotta get the face painted on your Birthday, she gots some butterflies to match her shirt :)

And on one of the rides we hadn't been on before, these pictures crack me up. I was taking them as the ride was moving. She loved this ride, the Pirate Boat rocks back and forth and spins around, we went on it probably 6 times.

And at the very end of the day she decided to go on Coastersaurus, a real roller coaster that she had been on before but has been kinda scared of it...but she said I want to go on the dinosaur ride, and she didn't hesitate at all. I was so proud :)

She was also able to drive the cars this time now that she is three...I love the determined look in her eyes. She really liked this and was so proud of herself that she did it.

I had a fabulous day with you my sweet baby, I can't believe how fast you have grown!! I love you so incredibly much, you are amazing, beautiful, funny, sweet and smart and I am so lucky to have you in my life!! Love you baby girl.

Mammoth Trip

My Birthday

Tim planned a great day for my Birthday. We started out at Argyle at Four Seasons for Breakfast, so yummy!

Then I got a massage and we headed to dinner with the family. We were going to go somewhere fancy, but I just wanted a burger and fries so we went to Islands instead. Here we are getting ready for dinner.

I had to get a picture with each family member. Me and my brother Camron :) He is finishing up his internship in April and will be working as a phlebologist or doing physical therapy soon.

Trapeze Lessons

Thanks to Groupon, Tim and I decided to try out the Trapeze. It was amazing, and really scary and hard!! They make it look so easy. But I'm still smiling. There was no time to be scared of jumping off the top, when they tell you to jump (Hep), you Hep ;-)
My first knee hang, I fell as soon as I took my hands off...

We each did one banana hang, then two knee hangs, then two knee hangs with a catch. Tim did great, he made both of his catches. I only did one. Here are Tim's catch pictures. The person catching us was so tiny. It really was awesome to watch!!

Disneyland with Grandma

We went to Disneyland recently with Grandma and had a great day. Kathryn loves the Peter Pan ride, she had woken up from a nap recently and said, I want to go on the Peter Pan ride with the flying boat. So here we are first ride of the day, hats and sunglasses, check!

Over to California Adventures now for the Ferris Wheel. I love this one, the swinging cages are the only way to go, they really get some movement. Kathryn loves this ride too.

Then we headed over to the Bug's Life area and hit every ride before we left. We were going to try to get out after the carousel but now Kathryn knows her way around and said she wanted to go on the Caterpillar ride, can't say no to that, then she wanted to ride the bumper cars, so we just did em' all.
We had a great day Mom and look forward to going again!

Tahoe Trip

Here are some pictures of my recent trip to Lake Tahoe, it was absolutely gorgeous! We had an awesome room with a view of the lake, mountains and the pool too, it was an indoor/outdoor pool and it was so fun so swim while it was snowing! Here's the view from our Balcony.

The ducks were so cute, each time we'd walk down to the lake they'd come to see us thinking we had food I'm assuming, they walked right up to us, it was so neat watching them fly in.

Ski Day :) Absolutely perfect conditions on the first day. The second day it was snowing so we didn't take pictures. But it was still so nice, the snow was so soft and it was my first time seeing snowflakes. They were so beautiful!

Gavin's Birthday Lunch at BJ's

Dance Class

Here's Kathryn taking her first Dance Class. They do a combination of tap, ballet and gymnastics. I think they love tap because they get to make a bunch of noise, but it is absolutely adorable to watch. The moms are allowed to be in the room for the first class of each month, then the rest of the month they go solo and we watch on a TV in the waiting room. It is pretty cute! Can't wait to take the next round of dance pictures

The Mustang

Right before Tim and I met, he found this jazzy number on Ebay. The description said it was Wild Iris and the picture of it online was dark and wet so it looked like a dark Maroon color. He bought a flight to Oregon to collect his winnings. It was dark when he picked it up so he still didn't really know what color it was. He left that night for a long drive back to CA and when the sun began to rise he discovered what Wild Iris really was all about.
After some car trouble in LA he ended up only being able to drive in third gear, and had to keep the car moving above 30 mph and we all know how traffic in LA can be. He felt a little like Keanu in Speed. He rigged it and continued home, then met me about two weeks later. We cruised Iris a few times before she kicked it and she'd been sitting in various driveways/garages around San Diego for about 5 years.
For the past two years he's been working hard to get it running better and looking better. Today we got to take Iris home from the paint shop and she looks fabulous. Now all she needs is a new Grill and Wheels and we're ready for the next car show. Looks Great Honey! Now the HOA can scrap that letter they were going to write us about the pink car in the driveway.

PB for the Day

We went down to PB for the day and had lunch at the Green Flash, very tasty! After lunch we went for a walk and played in the sand and took pictures with my new camera, I absolutely love it, thank you Tim, best Christmas gift EVER! Here's Kathryn playing in the sand.

There was a Christmas tree on the pier, I like the picture of the bird in this one. The waves were pretty big, I think about 6 feet or so.

The waves were really big so when one hit the pier it would totally shake so Kathryn wasn't super thrilled with that, this was the best smile we could get.

Mexico Trip for Mike and Lilliana's Wedding

We flew out of the Tijuana Airport. Here were are after crossing the border and hopping a cab, yes it's 10:30 time for a tecate. Some of the churches in Puebla, Tim took these next few shots.

Tim's Birthday Weekend

Tim's Birthday was this weekend and we had such an adventurous weekend! It really was so much fun! Papa and Grammi watched Kathryn so it was just the two of us. We didn't have anything booked.

The first day we headed to Robbins Brothers for Tim's Birthday present, a new wedding band, he's been missing his for some time now, lost it at the beach. Now we look married again. Then off to Gaviota State Park. They don't take reservations and we hit some traffic so it was full by the time we got there so we went to another place I found online. This place was awesome! Kinda like camping, I call it Fancy Camping. You can get a tent and use shared facilities or splurge and get a cabin. We got lucky and the tent they gave us was right in the middle of like a 100 kids, and it being our no kid weekend we were going to look elsewhere so they found us a more secluded cabin and gave it to us for the same price. Our cabin had a Queen size bed and a loft with two twins and little shower and a kitchenette. Totally not camping, plus they had a market that served breakfast, lunch and dinner so the first night we took it easy!

Here we are the next morning at El Capitan State Park. We rode bikes down to the beach, took a nice walk and biked back for lunch and to guarantee our camping spot for that night.

It was such a beautiful bright sunny day!

Like I said, Bright!! And I left my glasses back at the cabin...oops.

Soaking up some rays!

After securing our campsite we headed to Santa Barbara and rented a Whaler. This was sooooo much fun!!! We had our lunch and ate out on the boat and saw some seals enjoying the sun. The fog rolled in right at the end of our hour, it was so pretty!

That night we headed back to our real camp site. That night we had a little visitor wake us up...around midnight or one we heard some noises outside and I looked outside and it was a skunk...he even scratched our tent. He took off with some chips that were left in a bag outside and we kept very quiet in the tent. Hilarious after we didn't get sprayed!!

Then it was off to Disneyland the next morning (in line for Big Thunder Mountain above). Since it was Tim's official Birthday we had to get that Disneyland discount and we didn't have Kathryn so we stuck to the big rides we can't normally do with her. We spent most the day at California Adventure and then hit up a couple rides and D-Land then back home to our baby girl! She had a very exciting weekend too thanks to her Papa and Grammi, she got her nails done, went to Julian for Apple pie, saw some Hula dancers and went to Balboa park, those are the things I could remember. Thanks Dad and Marsha!

The Fairy Festival

We took Kathryn to a Fairy Festival at Quail Botanical Gardens on Saturday. She had a great time dressing up and seeing all the fairies, she would said look another butterfly each time we saw a little fairy. It was so cute seeing everyone all dressed up.

The Zoo

We went to the zoo recently for a play date. It was so fun, we had 20 moms with us, and a lot of strollers! Here I am with Marian.

We saw an armadillo up close, and also a chinchilla. This is actually a grandma armadillo.

And this was so neat, an ocelot.

Then we took a trip on the train outside the zoo...it was such a busy day it felt nice to slow down and go for a train ride just the two of us, we had the whole train to ourselves.

And I love this one of me and Kathryn on the carousel. I got the gold ring and then Marian did so we ended up going three times. Perfect ending to a very fun day.

Legoland

We took Kathryn for a quick trip after her nap on Sunday and went on a few rides before we got to the water area. Here she is with Tim on the airplane ride, then we did the blast off type ride...so fun! She said again, again. Checking out mini land.

The water area is so neat, it was pretty chilly though, Tim wasn't expecting to be in the water but it was a lot of fun. Playing on the helicopters.

Hawaii

Kathryn was recently asked to be a flower girl in my cousin's wedding in Hawaii. Here we are very early on the first day...Kathryn woke up at 4:00 am but didn't make me get out of bed until 5:00. We were at the beach by 6:30...the view from the hotel was amazing!

She had a great time playing the in sand, the building's were perfect shade so early in the morning!

Here she is with a friend also from California so they were up early too. It is perfect how there is the wall to block the waves for the kids and adults. It was a little chilly for the adults to float that morning but our last day I floated in there for hours.

Kathryn ended up taking a very long nap that first day with the time change and all the exciting things she was tired! After she woke up we got her some food really quick and were lucky to see a few minutes of a show and then she was out again, fell asleep in her stroller.

I actually don't have any pictures from the wedding but hopefully will have some soon so that I can update the second day.

I left my stroller with Becca and Aric on accident the previous night so I had to meet them for dinner the third night ;-) We had a great time at Roy's! They took great care of the kids, brought toys, crayons and snacks immediately then brought the moms a pineapple martini, we asked for that though :) It was very tasty and we were really impressed with the great service.

She was making some hilarious faces this trip, this one is probably my favorite though.

I think they rode the escalator 30 times that night. Dad was entertaining Kathryn so I could chat a little longer with Aric and Becca, Ayden did great and man can that kid eat! As long as he had food in his hand he was happy. Adorable!

On the way back to the hotel we watched some street performers and Kathryn bought a spiderman balloon toy.

4th of July

We stayed at home and pretty much did nothing...we hung out on the porch and watched the fireworks from Legoland. We have stayed at home on the 4th since we had Kathryn it wasn't really the plan but I think we're going to start making it the plan. It was nice to hang out and relax. Tim cooked hot dogs and we had potato salad and baked beans it was a great day.

The Fair

We went to the Fair with some friends and had a blast! Here is Kathryn on the pony ride, she totally loved it! She wouldn't smile but was holding one back...already showing her little attitude :) A close up of the trying not to smile, smile.

This was the funniest ride I have ever seen...the race car ride was the cutest thing EVER! It would go really slow and then whip then around the corner really fast. They loved it!! Kathryn would hold on and Ethan would chill back and enjoy the ride. OMG it makes my cheeks hurt thinking about it.

This one was so cute too. They took it very seriously and sat there driving the whole time. It was adorable. Marian took a bunch of pictures of the day also, we had so much fun, we played some games, had some corn on the cob, went for an elephant ride and lots and lots of fun rides for the kids! It was a blast!

There was a special visitor at the Birthday Party, Dora! They danced and played parachute games with Dora it was very cute. Kathryn loved it, she is a big Dora fan!And face painting too!

Isaac's Birthday

Isaac turned 3 and we had a great time celebrating with the family! After some bouncing and eating it was cupcake time and there was a surprise visitor...it was Spiderman. Who I happen to know personally ;-) Here is Kathryn with Spiderman getting a tattoo.

My dad was in Europe for a couple weeks then we were in Texas so it had been almost 3 weeks since Kathryn saw her Papa, let's just say she was happy to see him! Here we are outside When In Rome in Encinitas, I love this place!! They have the best Lasagna and a great ambiance!

And this has to be one of my favorites of them :) Love you Papa and we are glad you are back!

Wild Animal Park

Kathryn has really been into the Dinosaurs lately and she really enjoyed the new exhibit at the WAP. She was a little freaked out the first time through but the second time she was a pro. They make very realistic loud noises so it actually gets a little spooky.

We saw the elephants and the tigers and played in the water for a little while then after a new change of clothes and another trip through the Dino Mountain Exhibit it was off to see the Condors and Goats. There was a little boy feeding one leaves and Kathryn would have him a leaf and he'd feed it to the goat, she wasn't brave enough to do it herself but they made a pretty good team and we got a close up of the goat.

As soon as she saw the carousel we just had to do that on the way out, this one is soooo neat, it has the coolest animals and they are so pretty. She picked the Zebra though and stuck with it.

Tim's youngest brother, Greg graduated from Cistercian an all boys Catholic high school that Tim also attended. It was a really neat experience and we were very happy to have been a part of it. Congratulations Greg! Here's Greg with our Nephew Aidan who is exactly two years older than Kathryn, they share the same Birthday.

And here's the whole family starting from the left...Tim, myself and our cutie pie Kathryn. Tim's dad Michael and mom Marta, who is holding the newest addition to the Poarch Family Teagan. Greg next to his other siblings Brian and Kim, and Kim's first born Aidan and husband Bobby.

The following night Marta performed with her choir. It was beautiful! Here is Kathryn in front of Mary. She really liked the church and kissed the flowers in front of the statue.

We love going to this place! The Gaylord Texan Hotel, it is awesome! They have a mini Texas inside, seems like you are outside so the temperature is always nice and they have lots of Koi Ponds. Here we are in San Antonio.

Disneyland with Melissa and Taylor

The cutest began almost immediately. The girls were holding hands and having a great time.

Our first ride was small world.

Kathryn almost made it to lunch time but crashed right before...we watched the Jedi show at lunch. That will be so cute when they are big enough.

Lulu and Stephie's Tea Party

Lulu and Stephie turned 3 and had the most adorable Tea Party! First they made some pretty picture frames, then it was time to dress up and take pictures. Pearls and hats included, it was so cute and the girls loved getting dressed up and getting their picture taken that was then put in their pretty frames for us to take home.

Real china and nothing was broken! It really was amazing, they were all so happy and content sipping their "tea" (pink lemonade) and munching on their cookies.

Mother's Day

The boys planned our day this year. Tim and Allan planned a brunch at our house. After our delicious brunch we headed outside to take some pictures and enjoy the beautiful day. Here's Kathryn with Papa watching uncle skateboard.

My new stroller, can't tell you how happy I was to get it all set up. It's the little things in life. Thanks honey bunny for helping me pimp out my stroller with drink and snack holders.

Here we go...first time on the Matterhorn, she did really great, she was scared of the snowman noises mostly but not the actual ride itself, she was so proud to have done it though.

She really loves the Pooh ride, we went on it once then met Pooh and Tigger then did it again...we had to walk fast by the characters the second time or we could have ended up in a never ending Pooh circle.

And then she crashed...

So we went to California Adventures so we could get a glass of vino and bubbly.

And then off to play in the water. It was the perfect end to the day, a glass to unwind and the water was so refreshing, it was hot!

Sea World Visit

My cousin was in town so of course we had to visit Sea World. It was a beautiful day, a perfect day for getting splashed, it was HOT. Here is Kathryn at the dolphin exhibit. They were hilarious that morning! They were splashing everyone and not just a little splash, totally soaked, it was hilarious!

Then off to see the Clidesdales, here are Kathryn and I with Dallas.

And while partaking in a very refreshing adult beverage a very nice security man offered to get a picture of us. Here are the grown ups...Steph, yours truly, my lovely mother and cousin Becca.

Then off to see the Beluga whales and polar bears.

Sea World Visit

Sushi Play Date

March 3rd is girl's day, hina matsuri, in Japan and to celebrate a friend hosted a play date and taught us how to make Sushi. It was soooo fun! And surprisingly easy. Here are Kathryn and Miya in their Japanese outfits. I also learned how to tie the Obi on my Kimono. A very fun learning play date.

Our Trip to Disneyland

For my Birthday this year we went to Disneyland, I got in free thanks to Mickey so we only had to buy Tim's ticket. Kathryn absolutely loved the castle and if you ask her if she wants to go to Disneyland she says castle castle. Then we went to California Adventures the following day where she had lunch with the princesses and she was also dressed up. It was a fun two days, she was up until 12:30 on Friday it was so fun! She also got to meet Aladdin and Jasmine we were so lucky :) Here are some pictures from our two days of Disney fun.

Our Valentine's Day was awesome! Tim made biscuits for breakfast then we headed off to the SRF Gardens to check out the Koi fish. Kathryn had a great time running around. Then we went to Ki's for lunch and then back home for nap time and a movie. It was a beautiful day. Thanks Honey for my tulips!

Utah Trip

Tim and I went on a 5 day trip to Utah to visit friends and check out some Sundance movies. We had a great time and heard Kathryn did great at Grandma's house. It was the longest we've been away from her. Here we are with Summer and Russ getting some drinks at Port O Call.

Here we are at the Premiere of "The Informers" a Bret Easton Ellis screenplay.

Woody Harrelson was in the audience and 5 of the cast members were also there with the Director to take questions. The whole experience is really fun, even if you don't like the movie. This movie was definitely on the shocking side and very intense! The Director Gregor Jordan is at the podium.

Then we hit the mountain for a day of skiing/snowboarding (pictures to be posted soon).

On Saturday we headed back up to Park City for our second Sundance movie, Moon. This one was really interesting a SciFi set in the future with Sam Rockwell. We had lunch with friends and then I found myself a nice pair of cowboy boots. Here we are in front of the Egyptian Theatre.

We also met up with one of Tim's friends from high school and we went to an exhibit that had all sorts of fun stuff to interact with.

Tim's favorite was similar to the minority report computer. They had a program setup that would allow you to pull an object from a movie clip and make your own movie. There were several shorts to choose from and you would do it all with hand movements.

It was snowing when we left so we decided to get a quick shot at the airport...take 1.

We had a fabulous time! Thank you Summer and Russ for letting us stay with you and for your hospitality and thank you Alisha for the buddy passes and for your help with the flights! You guys made our trip so fun and affordable too :)

Karina's Birthday Party

Yesterday we went to a friends house in LA for their daughter Karina's 2nd birthday. It was so fun! They had a petting zoo and bouncy house for the kids. They even had a zebra and pony rides! Here is Kathryn getting cute for the party.

Here she is on the Pony, she absolutely loved this and it was so adorable. Good thing we don't have more land, or I might be on Craig's List looking up Ponies for sale.

And then there's the Zebra...we had the perfect shot then he turned around right as we took the picture.

He was begging for pizza. Only way we managed to get this view.

And we can't forget the bouncy house, Kathryn loves these and sometimes gets a little carried away and hugs or tackles some of the other kids. We're working on gentle!!

We also stopped by and visited one of Tim's friends from college that lives nearby. It was a fun day!

My Dowwaa

We bought Kathryn a stuffed Dora doll today to reward her for spending the night at grandma's. She loves it so much and says, "my Dowa, my Dowa" so adorable!

We had a great date night, went out to Vigilucci's for dinner then headed home to a quiet house. Tim and I actually stayed up until 3 in the morning gabbing and having cocktails. We watched a comedian on in demand and called it a night. Then off to La Costa Resort in the morning for an awesome breakfast overlooking the golf coarse. We're heading to a 2 year old Birthday party in the morning where I hear there is a petting zoo so that should be very exciting!
